# 4.2 The Game Theory of Honesty: Staking and Slashing

For complex geopolitical or cultural events that cannot be captured by a simple price feed, Foresure utilizes a **Decentralized Witness Network**.

Validators in this network must stake a significant amount of collateral in the protocol’s native token. When an event occurs, multiple independent validators must report the outcome. If their reports reach a consensus, the market is settled. However, if a validator attempts to report a false outcome to manipulate a market, the protocol’s Slashing Mechanism is triggered. The dishonest validator’s collateral is immediately confiscated and redistributed to the honest participants and the individuals who successfully challenged the false report. This creates a powerful economic incentive where honesty is the only profitable strategy.
